Design and color choice is often dictated by personal preference or by a desire to match or complement an existing color scheme or pattern.  Acid staining concrete is a very organic process.  Color ranges can be chosen but the shades and hues will vary depending upon your concrete surface making each job unique.

The most impressive stained surfaces display multiple hues, sometimes separated by joints or divider strips or meticulously hand-applied details to create detailed graphic compositions.  We have been trained in the planning and organizing of many different designs and will ensure that your design is just right for your project.

Special stains are formulated to chemically react with the concrete's lime content. They lightly etch and bond color into the concrete surface. This method can be used on new or old concrete slabs. However, the results are not always predictable due to lime leaching, weathering, surface texture, or exposure to other chemicals, and results may vary widely from project to project. Mottling that occurs in the stain process can create rich tones and complex, almost translucent textures to mimic granite, marble, or to highlight natural variegations in the concrete. Patches or cracks in existing slabs will not be concealed, but may add character and uniqueness. 

Our skilled artisans can create a wide range of effects using, brushes, mops, sprayers, rags, and stencils.  The full depth of color will not become apparent until sealers are applied to the surface. This is the most versatile and creative method of coloring concrete.

True Custom Concrete uses a proprietary formula from Elitecrete that is a blend of polymer resins with cement, sand, and other additives to improve performance, wear resistance, and aesthetic qualities.

Polymer-modified overlays can be applied in layers as thin as a credit card or up to several inches thick without delamination or failure. They adhere well to existing concrete and resist damage from salt, chemicals, UV exposure, freeze-thaw conditions, and abrasion.  This is a great way make additional pours all look the same, to cover concrete that cannot be stained or previously had an overlay product.  

These overlays can be stained, painted, scored or engraved just like new concrete. The major difference is in the texture.  Overlays have more texture than do slick trowels full depth concrete.

This is the use of special tools and equipment to etch patterns and designs into existing concrete. This can be done with chemicals or tooling.  Either way creates a dramatic effect and the “Texas Star” is very popular here in East Texas.

Scoring is shallow-cuts in the concrete that suggest the appearance of tile, brick, or stone grout lines or simply create geometric designs and patterns to separate colors. We can score before or after we stain creating many different effects.  Borders are often incorporated into the design a about 9 inches from walls or other vertical surfaces that would prevent the saw from scoring lines all the way to the edge.

Sealing the concrete is the final step in the process.  Determining the seal type to use depends upon many factors such as:  inside or outside, cost, type of shine desired, and usage.  We will ask a few questions to make this determination with the customer.  Sealing will be done using the method that is best for the environment.

Conventional wisdom holds that old concrete, with cracks, surface discoloration, or surface imperfections, must be removed and replaced if improving the look of the concrete is the goal. But there are many options available for transforming that drab concrete patio, driveway, or floor into a new, decorative, colored concrete surface. Plus, you'll save money, conserve resources, and eliminate disposal problems.

Completely resurfacing concrete with a polymer-modified overlay is one way to upgrade the look, and you can choose from a wide variety of color and pattern options. If your concrete is in good condition but just needs a facelift, you can also stain, stencil or engrave it to improve the appearance.

One of the biggest trends in outdoor design today is a decorative concrete pool deck. A colored, textured and inviting area surrounding the pool does more than provide a safe, slip-resistant deck for sunbathing and barbecuing. It can also lower the temperature of the concrete. 

Decorative concrete has opened the doors to creating pool decks that complement the exterior of the home, meld with the outdoor environment, and replicate exotic and traditionally expensive materials such as slate, stone or even wood.
